Joanne Fagerness Obituary

Published by The Chronicle on Jan. 6, 2010.
Joanne Fagerness died Wed., Dec. 29, 2009, at Providence Hospital in Centralia, Washington. She was 61.
Joanne was born in Greeley, CO, on August 19, 1948. She was the youngest of the five children born to August and Rachel (Schreiner) Eiring. The August Eiring family was raised and schooled in Greeley and the surrounding farm area. Joanne graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1966. She lived many places during her lifetime: Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Utah, Texas, New Jersey, Michigan, and Washington. In 2002 she and her husband Paul retired to Lewis County to be near their many Fagerness relatives and to enjoy the relaxed lifestyle of southwest Washington.
Joanne is survived by her husband of 33 years, Paul Fagerness, their son, Brett Fagerness of Morrison, TN, two granddaughters, Deanna and Sarah Fagerness, of Parchment, Michigan, and two sisters, Shirley Lamborn, Windsor, CO, and Barbara Hagel, Eaton, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Eiring and sister Betty Wise.
Joanne was a very private individual, a devoted wife, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and to take care of her family. She was especially fond of her new home, which was built for her by brother-in-law Fred, with help from Paul and his relatives – but always with her interpretation of the plans. She also enjoyed learning about and compiling her family's Volga German ancestry and the story of their immigration to and life in the American Midwest. Joanne will always be fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A private memorial service was held at the family home Jan. 2, 2010. Donations in Joanne's memory can be made to the Lewis County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 367, Chehalis, Washington, 98532, or to your favorite local charity.

Paul,
I am so sorry to hear about JoAnne. We were in the area of Chalis this last weekend, and I realized that you and JoAnne lived in the area. I happened to be searching for you and remember that I had some success in finding you earlier by googling JoAnne's name. We are staying this winter in Bend, Or. and would be very happy if we could contact you. So sorry for your recent loss.
