Joanne Schinina Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 27, 2024.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Joanne Schinina, born on November 18, 1968, in Hackensack New Jersey. She lived a life filled with love, kindness, and compassion.

Joanne was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Concetta Schinina. She was a devoted sister and friend to many, and her absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew her. Joanne is survived by her older sister, Maria (née Schinina) Roos (Eric), nieces: Christina Dutton (Jonathan), Holly Roos (Bradley Hughes), Emily Mooney (David), and two grand-nieces: Elizabeth and Caroline.

Although Joanne did not have children of her own, she cherished her role as an aunt and godmother. She found joy in spending time with her family and creating lasting memories with her loved ones. Joanne frequently referred to her friends as her "second family". She had the amazing gift of being able to make friends wherever she went. Joanne would draw people to her with her compassion, her intelligence and her wicked sense of humor. In doing so, she leaves behind an army of friends who would do anything for her, as she did for them.

Joanne was an alumna of Immaculate Conception High School and William Paterson University. For over 25 years, Joanne worked for Oritani Savings Bank until she decided to retire. Her plan was to move to South Carolina and to travel the world.

Joanne loved spending time in Atlantic City and she was a whiz at poker. She was frequently a big winner and would share her good fortune with whomever she was traveling. She had a weakness for a good pair of sunglasses and loved taking cruises. She also loved and spoiled her dogs, including Remy and the late Gucci.

Leaving us too soon, Joanne leaves behind her brokenhearted family and friends.

Donations to cancer research would be welcomed.

A memorial mass will be held in Joanne's honor on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 9:30 AM at:
