Alan Brainard
November 13, 2008
To: The family and other close friends of Jocelyn Glasser:
From: Dr. Alan J. Brainard and his wife, Judy
We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Jocelyn. Alan had worked with her during his entire time at the University, and has many fond memories of these professional experiences. In addition to seeing her in the Department , we spent considerable time with her at Departmental picnics, and at various luncheons for retired University employees. It was always a pleasure to see her and we shall truly miss her. Even though she was comparable in years, I (Alan) always considered her almost a mother figure and asked her advice on a variety of topics from time to time.
We knew Jack the best of the children. Not only did he work with one of our sons, Paul, at Rhoda's, but we went to his Bar Mitzvah when that took place.
We knew Gerrie as well, and in fact were seated near her at many performances of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. We always took the time to exchange greetings with her at these concerts.
We send our deepest expressions of Sympathy. We share your grief.
I (Alan) have a number of photos of Jocie taken down through the years. I shall be glad to provide copies of these if the family so desires.
