I so enjoyed getting to know Joe when I visited Gail to learn more about her side of my family. My mother Dixie Barrett Carey is a first cousin to Gail's mother Thelma Barnes Sims. Joe's joy in life came out both in person and in his wonderful emails. I am so glad to have known him. My love to Gail, Ashley, and all the family.

I loved meeting Joe when I visited Joe and Gail in Timmonsville in 2010. He was charming, humorous, and had a zest for life. We'll all miss him!

Gail, there is a very eloquent poem entitled "The Dash" by Linda Ellis. Joe epitomizes the "dash" in the way he led his life. Whenever I would see him in Church, he would always share his smile and a warm handshake. It has been a blessing to know him. May the Lord be with you during this time of sadness.

It is said that you will know them by their fruit and that's how I became familiar with Mr. Jordan, through his very kind and lively daughter Kathy, my colleague who shared with us stories of her father's special spirited manner. Prayers and blessings to the family!
