ALCANTARA , Joefre (Joe) August 28, 1942 - April 3, 2009 It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Joefre Suerte Alcantara announces his passing after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 67. Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-six years, Dolores and his children, Dr. Joel (Christie), Dr. Joey (Mae), Dr. Joenel (Dr. Cherelyn), Dr. Junjoe and Joelens (Michelle). He was the beloved Papa of Jade, Melia, Paige, Christian, Anthony, Grace, Brendan, Xavier, Brennan, Jonas and Luke. He also leaves to mourn his mother Felicidad, brother Nestor and sister Dahlia, nieces, nephew and many dear friends. Joe was predeceased by his father, Arsenio. Joe was born in Dupax, Nueva Vizcaya Phillipines. He attended St. Mary's College where he graduated in Civil Engineering. In 1963 he married his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, Dolly. With five young boys they immigrated to Canada in 1971, first living in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and eventually settling in Calgary. Joe lived his life with joy and passion and was committed to serving his community. He was especially proud to be a brother mason of the Filipino Cabletow Society. We will miss your booming voice and laugh, your love of a good party, your singing and your words of wisdom and advice. You taught us about courage, strength, loyalty and family. Mostly we will mourn the precious love you bestowed on us all. Beloved husband, doting father, dearest papa, we love you and will miss you. Until we meet again. When you lose an admirable man, it seems that time stands still. It is difficult to see him go but his memory shines beyond the sorrow. Manong Joe was a great community leader and a man of wisdom. Surely, we will cherished the memories as he will be missed forever.

Dear Al and Family,
It is difficult to find words to console, so we pray you find peace in knowing that every mark of affection and every gesture of friendship that your father gave to others are signs of the many blessings God bestowed upon him in this life. May he rest in peace.
