He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia W. Williamson.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Lena M. Wyatt; son-in-law, William R. Williamson; daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Thomas Chester, Jeannie and Worth Adams; and 10 grandchildren.
He served his country during WWII as a navigator on a B-17 and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, he completed his college education at VPI, receiving two engineering degrees in Industrial and Mechanical. Following graduation, he was employed by Norfolk and Western Railroad and retired from the railroad in 1980. He was an active member of Rosalind Hills Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va., for 46 years. He was a deacon and supported and served his church in many capacities.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at the Rosalind Hills Baptist Church with the Dr. Tom Stocks officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke, Va. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's South Chapel.
