I remember John from 1963, when I was thirteen and on a baker's round, delivering bread to the Maidstone Road, Chatham home of John and his wife, who both exuded Christian joy whenever I met them. Ever since, whenever I think of Anglican vicars, it is John's engaging, jovial face that comes to mind. He was a wonderful, charismatic character, the embodiment of Christianity, RIP, with gratitude, Michael Lee, born a Catholic.
