John Allen (JB) Blackwood passed away peacefully at home on August 4,2025 in Roseville, MI. He was 64 years old.

Born on April 12, 1961 in Detroit Michigan, John grew up with a love for learning and athletics that would shape his life in meaningful ways. He pursued a degree in higher education with dedication, earning a bachelor's degree from Oakland University and a master's degree from Wayne State University.

John devoted his professional life to teaching mathematics, a subject he not only understood deeply but also had a gift for making accessible and engaging for his students.

Outside the classroom, John was an avid sports enthusiast. He played hockey with a passion, ran the New York Marathon, and found joy in riding his bike. Whether participating or spectating, all sports brought him happiness and camaraderie. He had a great sense of humor and entertained everyone with funny stories from his past.

John's family was central to his life. He is survived by his beloved wife Angela; sons Justin Blackwood and Jason Blackwood; sister Diane Theriault; brother Steve Blackwood and his wife Karen: nieces Amber Finlay and her husband Will Popadic, and Nicole Blackwood; great-nephews Silas Popadic and Rafa Popadic; father-in-law Jim Holland; sister-in-law Francine Holland and her husband Ken Licht; and his cherished cat Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ann Comito, father William Blackwood and brother-in-law Jerry Theriault.

John will be remembered fondly by many friends and family members whose lives he touched with warmth, humor and generosity. His presence with be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life event will be planned for September.
