John D. Crusie, age 49, of Sullivan, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022. He was born in Sullivan, IN on June 2, 1973, the son of Ralph Gallagher & Deborah (Yates) Goble.

He was a 1992 graduate of Shakamak High School. He worked as a Correctional Sergeant at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility for 12 years. He also worked at the Sullivan Police Department for a couple years and was part of the Wabash Valley Correctional Fire Department. He also attended Friendly Grove Baptist Church in Lewis and volunteered at Baptist Youth Camp for several years. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially loved fishing and hunting with his friends and family.

John is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Tina (West) Crusie; children, Thad (Ashley Hughes) Helton of Pittsboro, Travis (Kelli) Ellett of Fortville, Brittany (Marc) Geissman of Sullivan, Derek (Madison) West of Sullivan and Blake (Kayla) McDonald of Sullivan; grandchildren, Jon Helton, Adrienne Helton, Piper Ellett, Lilli Ellett, Zach Ellett, Zoey Ellett, Graham West, Nora West, Oakley West, Adaline McDonald and Weston McDonald; siblings, Scott (Barbara Wiers) Crusie of Chicago Heights, IL, Tina Tatlock and Patrick Gallagher.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 with Pastor Dave Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 pm, and on Wednesday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
