John passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday December 10, 2022 at his home after a two-year battle with illness. His beloved son Zackery was by his side.
He was born on a warm, sunny afternoon on June 5, 1970 in New Braunfels, Texas. His family moved to San Antonio when John was 4 years old. John started school there and graduated from Tom C. Clark High School.
Most of his career was in sales where he excelled due to his people skills, and his work ethics. His current position was with Emerald Lawns where he was Vice President of sales for 4 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Ellis, and his grandparents on both the Goll and Ellis sides of the family.
He is survived by his son, Zackery Thomas Ellis who was his greatest love; his wife, Kim Ellis; his mother, Lois Goll Ellis; in-laws and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He loved Christmas and had requested that his mother make some test cookies a few weeks early. He got his cookies, but wouldn’t share any of his favorites, Grandma’s chocolate chip cookies. He also wanted the tree up which we were a day late with, but I’m sure he knows it’s lit for him.
John loved boating, fishing, and going to the coast. He was fun loving and adventurous. He always put his family first and was always there for his many friends.
He will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 21 at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home, 189 N. Seguin Ave. 78130 Phone 830-625-3434.
Interment will follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens, 11700 TX-46, New Braunfels, Texas 78132.

We shared the best grandma ever! I am guessing it was her orange chocolate chip cookies. Sending prayers, love and condolences.
