Gilbert - "Did you hear the one about...?"

John Fenwick of Gilbert, Arizona passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025. He lived a wonderful life of 79 years and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Known for his larger-than-life personality, infectious sense of humor, and boundless love for his family, John made an unforgettable impact on everyone who knew him.

John Joseph Fenwick was born to Mary Jane Fenwick (née Stillwagon) and William Bruce Fenwick on November 14, 1945. He grew up in Media, Pennsylvania all of his adolescent life with older brother William (Bill) Fenwick.

In 1980, John moved to Mesa, Arizona, where he spent the majority of his professional life as a stock broker. John was known as a skilled financial investor and advisor, retiring from this career after 42 years.

There was no bigger fan of the Philadelphia Eagles than John. Even though he lived in Arizona, nothing stopped him from having a cheesesteak sent from Philadelphia every halftime during the football season.

However, John's legacy will forever be remembered by his big heart. He had one goal every day of his life: Make someone's day. John was equipped with jokes to tell strangers and magic tricks to delight children. Yet the ones who experienced his generous heart the most were us, his family. We were the most important treasure in his life. His warmth, wit, and undeniable charm made him the heart of every gathering. He taught us to work hard, be kind to others, and focus on the positive. He was a force when it came to shining light in this world.

John was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2017. In the last years of his life, John continued enjoying time with his girls and telling a good joke. His vibrant personality will be missed. He was known as Jay on the East Coast, John on the West Coast, Daddy to his girls, Papa to his grandkids, and Fenny to all.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Moira; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Mark Gold, and their children Olivia, Mikala, and Sam; daughter Sara Fenwick Dunn, and her children Lindsay and Cailyn; daughter and son-in-law Melanie and Maxwell Hacker; and step daughter and son-in-law Shannon and Daniel Koch, and their sons Levi and Camdon. A service in John's honor will be held this summer in Media, Pennsylvania. If you feel led, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association: alz.org.

I am so saddened to learn of our dear friend John´s passing as we had so many wonderful memories of our crazy and fun times together with our beloved Fenny and all his jokes! We shared fun times with his lovely wife and both at their home on Mesa and and in Ocean City NJ with fish and his wife!!! Plus both of them were amazing cooks and delicious meals shared together with wine! God bless him and Moira and all their family! Love Phyllis Busch
