Hughes, Margaret
1919 - 2021
Margaret Ann "Peg" Hughes, age 101, was born in Glasgow, Scotland April 5, 1919, and died at Whetstone Gardens Care Center February 13, 2021. Preceded in death by parents Joseph and Margaret Sparkes, brother Joe Sparkes, first husband Gene Cooper, children David Cooper and JoAnn Patterson, and second husband Charles Hughes. Survived by step children, Bob Hughes, Brenda Gregg, Pam (Jeff) Maxwell, Jamie (Sue) Hughes; grandchildren, Randy (Jaci) Patterson, Lisa (Tim) Farber, Bobby (Christy) Hughes, Heather (Andrew) Markie, Shawn Gregg, Demetri (Alisha) Hughes, Ruby Hughes; and 12 great-grandchildren. Peg was a long-time member of Eastern Star chapter #251. She was always active with her church and helped teach Sunday school and summer bible camp. Peg's hobbies included reading, crocheting, walking and when her eyes got bad, she would sing hymns known by heart. Peg will always be remembered as feisty, fun loving, and an avid animal lover. Her most recent beloved Beagle Annie was always a topic of conversation. Peg lived at Whetstone Gardens for more than 10 years. She loved the people there and they adored her. She always had the best of care and never met a stranger. All the residents knew Peg. In her last year she was in the care of Bella Care Hospice. The staff were fantastic, and she appreciated the attention of her caregiver DeeDee. Family will receive friends from 1-2pm Thursday, February 18, at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Rd., where a funeral service will be 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bella Care Hospice, 2215 Citygate Dr, Suite E, Columbus, Oh 43219, in her memory. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.schoedinger.com.
