John H. Giles, 87, husband of Joan M. (Walters) Giles of 128 North Jefferson Street, Boyertown died Thursday, August 19, 2010 in the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Boyertown on September 8, 1922 he was the son of the late Laura (Yerger) and Harvey I. Giles. He was also predeceased by a step-mother Roma Giles. John was a WWII Navy Veteran; a 1940 Boyertown High School graduate. He retired from the Boyertown Body Works where he was a parts manager for 40 years. He was a member of St. Columbkill roman Catholic Church, Boyertown. John was a life member of the Friendship Hook & Ladder Fire Company, Boyertown. Surviving with his wife Joan, are two sons, David A., husband of Janice Giles of Franklin, IN and Daniel J. Giles at home; two daughters, Kathleen A., wife of Robert Hartman of Mohnton and Laurie K., wife of William Fedchak of Gilbertsville; a sister, Ruth Nettles of Royersford; step-sister, Linda Grill of Boyertown; five grandchildren, David M. Giles, Kristina Mazza, William A. Fedchak, Shelby L. Fedchak and Jenna M. Fedchak and two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Evan Giles. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Faust and two brothers, Linwood and Donald Giles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a..m, Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church, 200 Indian Spring Road, Boyertown. Father Marty Kern will officiate. A viewing will be Wednesday between 10 - 11 a.m at the church. Burial will be in Most Blessed Sacrament Church Cemetery, Bally. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Prostate Cancer foundation, 1250 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401 or a mass made in his memory to St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church, 200 Indian Spring Road, Boyertown, PA 19512. Arrangements are being handled by the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. Online condolences may be made at www.lwottfuneralhome.com., Boyertown, PA.
