March 29, 1958 - September 8, 2017 John Blevins Hasbrouck of Santa Paula, CA passed away in Boise, Idaho as a result of injuries sustained in a mountain biking accident. John was born in Los Angeles to William E. and Frances Blevins Hasbrouck and was raised in North Orange County and Glendale, CA. He was a graduate of Glendale High School, 1976, and the University of Southern California where he received a degree in broadcast journalism in 1980. John's first job was as a news anchor for an NBC affiliate in Yuma, AZ, where he performed the role of writer, editor, and presenter of news stories on the evening news. He later worked as an independent contractor for the Christian Broadcasting Network where he was involved in the production of special reports throughout Latin America. John also founded Media International early in his career, which produced educational video tapes which he sold to schools K-12 and youth leaders throughout the country. John most recently founded NewLeads, a nationally recognized universal lead retrieval provider. John served as a Deacon for the First Baptist Church of Ojai, taught Sunday School and was an active supporter of Young Life. John will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and son who was devoted to his faith and family, a man of great integrity, and one who was never afraid to speak his mind. A Celebration of John's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 23rd at Ventura Baptist Church, 5415 Ralston St, Ventura, CA 93003. John and I were childhood friends, but lost touch when my family moved away.
During Christmastime he wrapped the entire neighborhoods' parkway trees to look like candy canes. He was very ambitious, I knew then that he would accomplish great things.

I remember John as the spunky neighbor boy (he was 7 years younger) who was full of energy and determination. May he Rest In Peace.

Very sorry to hear of John's passing. We lost track of each other decades ago. Fond memories of him bring a smile to my face as we shared the start of our TV careers in Yuma, AZ in the 1980's. Many laughs, few worries in those days. Praying for the blessing of peace and strength for his family. The old crew of KYEL remember him and mourn his passing.
