John Wayne Hendricks

Sarasota, Florida - John Wayne Hendricks, age 81, of Sarasota, Florida, died at home of natural causes on January 10, 2024.

John was born in Corpus Christi in 1942 to A. G. Hendricks and Robbie (Stevens) Hendricks, where he attended Wynn Seale Elementary School, Ray High School and Del Mar Junior College. He went on to achieve a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas, Austin, and an advanced degree in political science at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. After his degree at Yale, he worked internationally as a corporate consultant.

It was while he studied in Connecticut that John met and married Moira Dwan. Together, John and Moira had two children, Ann Therese of Tampa, and Andrew also of Sarasota.

John's father, A. G. Hendricks, co-founder of the Corpus Christi Yacht Club, instilled a life-long passion for sailing in John. His first boat, which he dubbed the "Damn Yankee," was a 19 -foot Lightning class which he moored at the Coopers Alley L-Head. Eventually, John, Moira, and their two children graduated to a 34' Hobie which they raced in Long Island Sound.

John leaves behind a multitude of surviving extended family members who will greatly miss this man who was a very loving husband and father.
