John Martin Holmes

John "Jake" Martin Holmes, 76, of St. Ann. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Friday, May 18, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Holmes and two brothers, Jeff and Jerome. Jake is survived by his loving companion of 26 years, Helen Nimz; his daughter, Janna Lynne Oxos and her mother, Janice Donahue; grandchildren, Jakob and Jamie Oxos; sisters, Jill, Joyce, Janelle, and Jennifer; and former brother-in-law and friend John (Shannon) Wark; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Jake was a proud Vietnam War veteran and a member of the VFW in Helena, MT. He was a cheerful man who loved to talk and loved his family. He was a hard worker and retired from Union Pacific Railroad. Jake always kept a positive attitude no matter what cards in life were dealt to him and he enjoyed spending a lot of time outdoors hunting and fishing throughout his entire life. He met Helen in Las Vegas while playing Keno and a strong bond of love and friendship flourished from there. They enjoyed many trips together to the Northwest in their motor home. Jake's sense of spirit, adventure, and love will be missed.

Services are in Helena, MT with well-deserved military honors at the Montana Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison on August 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.alexanderstlouis.com.
