John "Jack" McCarthy, 89, of Stevensville, MD, passed away on 05/12/2022.
He was born to parents Robert W. McCarthy and Alveta McClaskey, on 12/14/1932 in Greece, NY.

Jack worked as a commercial airline pilot for 24 years. Retiring from USAir after 24 years of service as captain in October of 1988, he continued exercising his passion for all things aviation teaching friends and family to fly, achieving his Airframe & Powerplant certification, building, and restoring his own antique, vintage, and experimental aircraft.

Jack met his future wife Donna Richards at Hyde Field Airport in Clinton, MD. They were married on 9/11/1965 in Waldorf, Maryland at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Together they raised two children: Michael T. McCarthy, Jennifer E. nee McCarthy, Parker.

Jack is survived by his wife Donna McCarthy, son Michael, daughter Jennifer, sons-in-law Michael Polizzi and James Parker, and grandson James Parker II.

The family entrusted Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home with the arrangements. A private family funeral and internment took place June 1, 2022, at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery. A gathering celebrating Jack's life will take place on Kent Island with details to follow.
