John (Jack) Waryan Obituary
Jack was born 5 August 1931 to William and Anna in Northeast Minneapolis. He was the youngest of 4 Waryan brothers - Walter (Barbara), William (Muriel), and Donald(Lois).
After graduating from Thomas Edison High School, he joined the Coast Guard and served his country honorably for 3 years. He returned to Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education.
Jack married Blanche Milbradt and raised two sons Marcus (Roxy) and Frank (Selena). The family initially moved to Wahpeton, ND where Jack started his PGA Professional career at the Bois De Souix Golf Course. In winter, he taught Social Studies, refereed/coached the basketball team, coached golf, and eventually became Assistant Principle at Central High School.
The family moved to Detroit Lakes, MN where Jack was hired as the Head Golf Professional. Blanche expertly managed the Proshop in the mornings and Jack would give golf lessons, then manage/close the Proshop at the end of each day. During winter, Jack was a part time teacher at Holmes and Detroit Lakes Senior High School. The family attended worship services at First Lutheran Church. Jack served on Pine To Palm committees and was also a member of the Elks and Rotarian clubs. He went on to serve the community for over 30 years and became a lifetime member of the PGA of America.
Jack's most cherished memories were relationships with family, golf club members, and many friends from Minneapolis, Wahpeton, Detroit Lakes, and surrounding communities. He enjoyed his job most when adults and children were excited to come to the golf course, play the game, and be outdoors after a long day at work or in school.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife and oldest son. Jack leaves to cherish his memory his remaining son, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

I first met Jack when I became the Head Golf Professional at Moorhead Country Club in Moorhead, Minnesota when Jack was at Detroit Country Club. He came to play in the KX Pro-Am at our course for many years. I played at Detroit Country Club a few times a year and was always looking forward to see and visit with he and Blanche. Jack was one of the nicest, friendliest, kindest people you would ever meet. He was a Great PGA Golf Professional and a Member of the Minnesota Section PGA. Rest In Peace Jack

Frank - I know our fathers were great friends for many many years and had a great bond over all things golf.

Jack was a very calm man, I had a very long shot on #13 one day but did not plan on reaching the green. Jack´s foursome was ahead of ours and my shot hit the green and actually the ball rolled right between Jack´s legs . I was panicked and thought I would really be in trouble. When we approached the green Jack was teeing off on 14, he turned around and said "heck of a good shot Judie" and that was it except for my apologies. What a relief. What a good guy. He had been my teacher so he knew that was not my usual shot. He and Blanch were a great team and he ran the club very well for many years. My sympathies go to all the family. God Bless you all.

Jack was my Great Uncle, and Uncle to my Father Craig. I will always remember his kind, smiling face. He had such a kind and pleasant demeanor. I loved him very much, and he will be greatly missed. I love you, Uncle Jack

Prayers and condolences to the Family. Jack was an inspiration, lived his life as a great example for every player. Conversations with Jack over the years are cherished memories, usually including "what is John (Sauer) up to? Thanks for the memories, RIP old friend

My sincere condolences on the passing of your father. I have known Jack for most of my life. I worked for him during high school. He was one of the calmest and kindest people I´ve ever known. I was lucky enough to visit with him for the past years. Many fond memories.

I will miss Jack very much! I started visiting Jack about 5-6 years ago. We talked a lot about his family, golf, his days in the Navy, and traveling. I loved sitting in his 3 season porch where we would watch the golfers tee off of the 15th tee box. He would make comments at times on the golfers and reminisce about his time as a golf pro. I loved my time with Jack and loved him very much!
My thoughts and prayers are with Frank, Selena and family as the grieve the loss of Jack. May the good memories give you all peace.
