John Maitland Obituary

MAITLAND _ John Davis (Ian) Born in Vancouver October 17, 1920 and passed away December 29, 2006 in Delta Hospital, Ladner after a lengthy illness due to blindness and emphysema. Ian will be forever missed by his teen aged sweetheart, wife and best friend Noreen (Welsh); sons Michael (Elaine) of Ladner, David of Williams Lake; grandkids Cheryl, Eric and Steven and many relatives and friends. A veteran of WWII Ian joined the R.C.N. in 1939 and spent the next 6 1/2 years on Corvettes and Minesweepers in the Battle of the Atlantic and after the war minesweeping between Plymouth and Portsmouth, England. Most of Ian's working years were with Pacific Coast Wholesale Drugs Ltd. where he became Vice President and General Manager. Ian was a long-time member of West Point Grey United Church where he and Noreen were married August 31, 1946. A life member of W.P.G. Lawn Bowling Club. A dedicated Mason, Ian was a life member of University Lodge #91 and a member of St. James Lodge #80 and Gizeh Shrine Patrol. A private family gathering only. Flowers gratefully declined. Anyone wishing may make a donation to Delta Hospital Foundation, 5800 Mountain View Boulevard, Delta, BC V4K 3V6 or to a place of your choice.
