John F. Malloy

Dublin - John F. Malloy passed away on July 5, 2023 at the age of 66, at The James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

His battles with prostate cancer, leukemia, and Parkinson's Disease exemplified his courage to face life's challenges on his own terms.

John enjoyed the finer things in life: a dignified scotch, a smooth cigar, a refined IPA, and the collective joy experienced when sharing a smoke with friends.

Every Saturday you could find him in his brown leather chair, with a Bell's Two Hearted Ale in one hand, and the remote in the other, cheering his Ohio State Buckeyes to victory. John was indisputably the king of the remote. He could flip through channels with ease during commercial breaks, and somehow make it back just in time for the game to start again.

For most of his life, John was a mentor. He spent years sharing his knowledge with employees and colleagues during his long career in Sales, Management, and the Technology Sector. He was also heavily involved in Best Buddies Tennessee and the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Later in life, he shared his wisdom with several young adults and guided them through transformative times in their lives. John opened his heart and his home to anyone who needed a place of refuge. Together, they lived as a chosen family in what became affectionately known as The Malloy Manor, aka "John's Home for Wayward Twenty-Somethings"

To know John was to experience his generosity. He gave, and gave, and gave, and all he ever asked for in return was for others to pay it forward.

John is survived by his brother, Ken (M.R.) Malloy; his chosen family, Brian Milner, Joseph Bedocs, Louis and Brittany Roman, and his grandson, Jack Malloy Roman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Elfriede S. Malloy.

A gathering to celebrate John's life is being held on September 30th from 5-11pm at the Daily Growler in Upper Arlington.
