John McCarter Obituary
John died January 13, 2017 at NMMC in Tupelo, MS. He was born August 29, 1942 in McNairy Co. TN. To the late Arthur and Lillie Smith McCarter. John was a member of the West Corinth Church of Christ, he was a 1960 graduate of Ramer High School, was retired from ACE Power as an accountant. He also owned McCarter Equine Center, McCarter Beefmasters, severed as President of the Midsouth Walking Horse Assoc. and was a member of the Rotary Club of Corinth, having received the Paul Harris Fellow. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Leonard, Lautis, Lawrence, Tommy and Charles McCarter; sister Marguerite Baker.
John is survived by his wife of 54 years Doris Melvin McCarter; daughters Jana Nixon her husband Randy, Misty Wigginton her husband Jim; grandchildren Jordan, Katie and Lily Nixon, Allison and Jackson Wigginton; brothers G.B. "Sonny" McCarter his wife Louise, Gene McCarter his wife Louise, Paul McCarter his wife Billie; sister Ethelyne Gurley; host of other family and friends.
Memorial may be made to West Corinth Youth Fund P.O. Box 935 Corinth, MS. 38835 or Pinevale Children Home 1872 CR 700 Corinth, MS. 38834
Family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 and Sunday from 1:00 to service time at the funeral Home

Doris, I am very sorry for your loss. Johnny was a friend of mine since I came to Corinth in 1980. I enjoyed working with him on the horse show. Johnny made the show happen. Rotary raised a lot of money over the 20 years with the horse show; largely, in part, because of Johnny. I met Isaac through Johnny and rode horses with him, Isaac, until he graduated high school. I enjoyed going to his barn and practicing horse training techniques I had read about. He helped a lot of people get interested in horses when he open his barn to the public. Johnny was a smart, hard working, good fellow. He was a good one! Terry Cartwright
