Family-Placed Obituary

JOHN S. MIRANDA It is with great sadness that the family of John S. Miranda announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the age of 69 years. John was born to the late Antonio and Anna Papaiku-Haole Miranda. He was raised in Kaka'ako, Hawaii and was a 1956 graduate of McKinley High School. For 33 years, John served faithfully and honorably in the Armed Forces. He retired Sergeant First Class from the US Army National Guard Hawaii 291st Maintenance Company. During his military service, he also worked at Duty Free Shoppers Hawaii and retired Sales Support Manager in 1989. Most recently, John was a dedicated and loyal employee of the last 18 years at Continental Airlines Chelsea Food Services Division. John is remembered for being kind and compassionate. John was always happy, laughing and easy-going. He worked very hard, made friends easily and was always willing to help any and all of us in his life. John, known to us as "Daddy" and "Papa John" loved his family dearly and fiercely. He will be tremendously missed and never forgotten. John is lovingly remembered by Dolores, his wife and high school sweetheart of 52 years. He is greatly loved and missed by his daughters, Charmaine (John) and Joann (Rudy). John is forever loved and remembered by his two dearest grandchildren, Chyloh (Kalani) and Chason Rodrigues and his faithful grand-canine, Missy Cumaloon. "Papa John" will always be in the heart and memory of his one and only great-grandchild, Dalylah Louise Nolah Rodrigues whom he endearingly called "Tutu Lady". John is loved and survived by his siters, Barbara Kaina, Anna Passas, and Carmen Ho'omalu; his brothers, Anotnio "Kaku" Miranda and James Kamai; and his many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his sister, Marie; his brothers, Joseph and Reginald; and his first grand-canine, HollyPooh. Dearest Daddy and Papa John, we thank God for you. You are forever in our hearts and remembered by your family, extended family and many dear friends. A Celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, March 8 at Borthwick Mortuary. Visitation 9 to 11 am. Burial will be held on Monday, March 10 at 11 am at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe. Updated on 03/07/2008.
