Dr. John Joseph Morley

TRURO — John Joseph Morley, 83, of Truro, died on Jan. 2, 2009.

Born in Manchester, N.H., on Nov. 26, 1925, the son of Patrick and Hannah (McGrath) Morley, he attended West Side High School and graduated from St. Anselm's College. He served for two years in the Air Force and then went to the University of Maryland Dental School from which he graduated in 1952. He completed his internship in General Dentistry at the Brighton Marine Hospital in Boston. He practiced dentistry for 35 years in Westwood.

He was happily married to Mary Therese (Farrell) Morley for 55 years. The depth of their love for each other was a source of joy and strength for them and their entire family.

He was a volunteer dentist for many years at organizations such as Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Project Concern, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which brought him satisfaction.

He is survived by his wife, his sister, Margaret Galvin, and four children, all of whom he adored and was proud of, Beth Dean and her husband, William, Michael Morley and his wife, Katharine, John Morley and his wife, Glenn, and Maryann Friend and her husband, William. He had nine grandchildren, William, Sam, Liza, Jonathan and Taylor Dean, Eleanor and Margaret Morley, and Emily and William Friend. John also leaves behind many loving caretakers, who became dear friends at Epoch of Brewster.

He loved life, his family, and close friends. He had a loving smile and a gentle way that touched many lives and brought much joy to all who knew him.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend the funeral Mass at St. Peter's Church in Provincetown, on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at 11 a.m. There will be no visiting hours and the burial is private.
