John E. Moyer

John E. Moyer, 84, of Brookville, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville. He was born March 29, 1931, in Jefferson Township, to the late John E. and Ruth (Knight) Moyer. He married Pauline Wickersham; she preceded him in death in 1996. John will be missed and remembered by his five children, Tanya (David) Poynter of Brookville, John (Jane) Moyer of Brookville, Blake Moyer of Clayton, Phillip (Christine) Moyer of Brookville, and Molly (Joe) Mellon of Brookville; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Martha Sellers and Doris Miller; and brothers Thomas and Robert Tully, and Harold, Norman, and David Moyer. Mr. Moyer was the owner and operator of Butler Asphalt, and had attended Happy Corner Church of the Brethren. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Farmersville and a Shriner. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St., West Milton, with Pastor Trent Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Eversole Cemetery, New Lebanon. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brethren's Home.
