John Pierro Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 6, 2024.
John A. Pierro. Sr., 84 of Effort PA. previously from Closter, NJ, passed away on May 2, 2024.

Beloved father of Kelly (Stephen) Eisenhardt, John (Nancy) Pierro, Kevin (Anissa) Pierro and Danielle (Charles) Zweier. Cherished grandfather of Anthony, Kaitlyn, Aiden, Kathleen. Morgan, Sean, Micah and Noah. John is also survived by his adoring partner of six years, JoAnne and his loving brother, Philip (Irma) Pierro.

John was predeceased by his loving wife, Kathleen Pierro, his parents, John and Mary Pierro and his loving brother, Albert (Christine) Pierro.

John was born in Union City and grew up in Ridgefield Park, NJ. In his younger years, John loved to spend time down at the Jersey Shore and go deep sea fishing with his friends. He met his loving wife, Kathleen through his best friend and they were happily married for 23 years until her untimely passing. John and Kathy loved to take day trips, and one of their favorite spots was the Poconos where John settled down after Kathy's passing. Even though their time together was cut short, we are comforted knowing that they are forever reunited.

John proudly served in the United States Army, loved big band music, watching the news, football and baseball games. He coached his sons' youth teams for many years.

John enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, cooking and going out for a good meal.

John and JoAnne happily enjoyed each other's company for the last six years. They liked to go shopping, take car rides and visit the local Amish farms. John's children and grandchildren are forever grateful JoAnne was a part of his life and for the special care she gave him during his declining health.

John had a generous spirit. He worked hard and loved his family with all of his heart. He will be missed beyond measure and most remembered for his sense of humor and infectious laughter.

A memorial service will be held in John's memory on May 16, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church, located at 85 Conestoga Trail, Sparta, NJ 07871.

Uncle John, I have fond memories of being little and hearing your laugh as I made my way downstairs grandpa's house on Christmas Eve. When I got older, on one Christmas Eve, you shared with me your love for the Lord and that you asked Him into your life. Although it stings that you are not here, there is a Peace that you are with our Savior and that this is just a goodbye for now because we have the Promise that we will see you again.

John, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom and democracy. The final battle is now over and peace has been restored. The final bugle has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Farewell fellow veteran. A Navy Vietnam Veteran.

I was so sad to hear about his passing. John or Mr. Pierro , as he will always be to me, was a great friend to my father and was there for him when he needed help. I also remember many good times in the pool or going in his VW Bug to Dairy Queen. All of you are in my thoughts.

I´ll always remember his big laugh! He was such a blast. Even when he was mad, he made me laugh.
