John Michael Roan, 53, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. He was born on December 5, 1960, in Terre Haute, to Bill and Charlotte (Foltz) Roan. He married Kim Smith on October 12, 1985. John worked as a carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 133 for many years. He was a member of the Sycamore Model A Club and the Lost Creek Conservation Club. He enjoyed antique cars, fishing, and target shooting. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.

John is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kim Roan of Terre Haute; children, Jamie Boyer and her husband Capt Jeffrey Boyer of Pace, FL; Kailee Burdick and her husband Kyle of Terre Haute; two brothers, Brent Roan and his wife Gloria of Greenup, IL, and Hal Roan of Terre Haute; two sisters, Pam Roan of Ft. Myers, Fl, and Rae Ann Melloh and her husband Rick of Cornish Flatts, NH; a grandson, A.J. Boyer; nieces, Annie (Jeff) Marcet, Gracie Roan, Mackenzie Sawyer, Janee Smith; Caden Smith, Jackie Smith, and Jodie Smith; nephews, Pat (Barbara) Roan, Clay (Amy) Roan, Tyson (Heather) Roan, Brad (Amanda) McGrannahan, Justin (Amber) McGrannahan, Jared Smith, and Brian Smith; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Charlotte Roan; and grandparents, Laurin and Mary Foltz and Wayne and Wilma Roan.

Visitation will be held from 11 to 2 on Saturday, May 17, at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Kind words and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net

I did not know that John has passed away. Really I didn't know he wasn't well.He was a special guy. We knew each other through the Sycamore A Club and went on tours together. John was always smiling and laughed at his own stories which made them even funnier. I am so sorry for your loss! I know you will cherish your memories of John. He went way too young!!
