John Schwind Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 10 to Oct. 15, 2009.
John Patrick Schwind, Jr., age 45, was killed in Longview, Texas on September 4, 2009. John was born and raised in Bradenton, FL. John spent much of his childhood playing football in the Manatee County Youth Football League and baseball with the Boys Club program. John was an avid Bucs and Nascar Fan. John recently moved to Texas to work in the construction industry rebuilding hurricane ravaged homes and businesses. John loved helping others and while in Texas he donated his skills as an auto mechanic to repair cars of those less fortunate. John’s greatest love was family and his happiest moments were when he was in their midst. He leaves behind an extensive loving family; son, Joel M. Schwind, age 10; father, John Patrick Schwind, Sr.; mother, Charlotte (Brian) Atrosh, Bradenton; three sisters, Tami Schwind (Bob) Sharpin, Bradenton; Teri Schwind (Harry) Preston, Murfreesboro TN; Debi Schwind, Bradenton; brother Scott Schwind, Bradenton; eight nieces and nephews and two grand-nephews. John’s beloved son, Joshua Patrick Schwind, predeceased him at the tender age of 5. John’s family has established a fund in memory of John to benefit his surviving son, Joel. Anyone desiring to contribute to this fund should make checks payable to Joel M. Schwind and mail to PO Box 14334, Bradenton, FL 34280. Online condolences may be expressed at: Legacy.com. Private services will be held.

The thoughtful and reflective words that friends and family have posted have brought great comfort. Thank you for taking the time to remember my kind and loving brother. He would have turned 46 today. Our hearts ache for his tragic loss. John made his peace with God, therefore we rejoice to know we will one day join him in Heaven!

John was a 'cracker' & proud of it! He spent the last several years of his life looking for a place to call 'home', in Florida, then Texas. He was a considerate, happy-go lucky, who would go out of his way for anyone. My prayers to his family, not only for having to deal with the insanity of his death, but for the future as well. I will always be thinking of you, Sarge!

Dear Cousin Charlotte and Second Cousins Tami, Teri, Scott, and Debi,

It is with a great and profound sense of sadness that I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your families at the loss of such a great- hearted person in John. Heaven will be a better place because of him. Many years ago we played together on your ranch (perhaps in Bradenton) when we were all kids.
May John's legacy live on in Joel's heart.

Love,
Lois Hansen Ambra
