John Vaughn Searcy passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on March 4, 1932, to Mildred Youngkin Searcy and William Herbert Searcy, Sr. He and his wife, Nina Lincoln Searcy, were married 69 years, and had three grown children and five grandchildren. John was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers William Herbert Searcy, Jr. and Howard Lee Searcy, Sr., son Kevin Vaughn Searcy, daughter-in-law Cynthia Manning Searcy, and granddaughter Stephanie Manning Searcy. Surviving him is his loving wife Nina Lincoln Searcy, son David Lincoln Searcy (Pamela), daughter Jill Elizabeth Searcy Whipple (Paul), and grandchildren Paige Elizabeth Searcy, John David Searcy, Christopher Vaughn Searcy, Grace Elizabeth Whipple and Luke Vincent Whipple.

John graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in January 1951. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida in 1955, after which he became a Registered Professional Engineer in Florida and other states. During his more than fifty-year career, he owned several Engineering firms. His projects were not only local, but also national and international projects. John designed the power systems for a number of significant buildings in Jacksonville. He was a member of several professional engineering societies and was elected Engineer of the Year in 1983.

John was honored to be an Eagle Scout, as were his two brothers, two sons, and three grandsons. He served his country honorably as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army and then as a Major in the Florida Air National Guard.

The celebration of John Searcy's life will be Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, 12236 Mandarin Rd., Jacksonville, FL, 32223. Memorials in memory of John V. Searcy may be sent to the Episcopal Church of our Saviour.
