OTTUMWA — John David Shinn, 64, of 15359 130th St., died at 4:05 a.m. Dec. 31, 2009, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.He was born Feb. 13, 1945, in Keokuk, Iowa, to Beryl and Eleanor Parry Shinn Sr. He married Diana Hainline June 11, 1966.He worked for 23 years for Iowa Beverage, owned and operated John's Trucking, and farmed northwest of Ottumwa. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting shuffleboard and pool, farming and time spent with family and his many friends.He attended First Church of the Nazarene and Trinity Nazarene Church.Surviving are his wife, Diana; two sons, John David Shinn II of Ventura, Calif., and James Patrick Shinn of St. Paul, Minn.; three brothers, Robert Shinn and Beryl Shinn Jr., both of Ottumwa, Bill Shinn of Donnellson; two sisters, Janet Burkhalter and Mary Ash both of Ottumwa.He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Shinn and two sisters, Audrey Boehl and infant Virginia Shinn.Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Eigsti officiating.
