Big Bend - John P. Stumpner, formerly of Loyal, WI, died on December 17, 2024 at the age of 88 years. He was born in Waupaca, WI on September 1, 1936 to Arnold and Helen (nee: Daum) Stumpner. On April 23, 1960 he married his loving and devoted wife, Patricia Mesching. John was an active volunteer in his community and spent 33 years as a member of the Big Bend Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, retiring in 2008. He was a lifelong outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. One of his passions in his later years was to make sure his hunting camp, "Camp South Fork", would be passed down to future generations of his family. John was a fan of Wisconsin sports and enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers, Bucks and Badgers.

He will be sadly missed by his children John Stumpner, James (Sue) Stumpner, Janet (Jonathan) Schmidt, Jean (Jeff) Badciong and Jeff Stumpner. Dear grandfather of Nicole (Andrew) Lipka, Andrew (Allison) Stumpner, Jessica Stumpner, Joshua (Kaytlyn) Badciong, Matthew (Heather) Badciong and Megan Cicona. He is further survived by 7 great-grandchildren, siblings George (Patricia) Stumpner, Virginia (Dale) Johnson, Rita (Milt) Pachal, Charles (Ione) Stumpner and Thomas (Linda) Stumpner, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia on November 17, 2020.

Visitation will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, S89 W22970 Maple Ave., Big Bend, WI 53103 on January 11, 2025 at 10 a.m. with service at 11 a.m. and a luncheon held after. A private internment is planned after with the family on Monday, January 13, 2025. Memorials are appreciated to Christ Lutheran Church.

John was a patient of ours for Physical therapy a couple of years ago. He was vivacious and always had a a litany of stories to tell. He loved fishing daily all the way over to the Rock River. We miss him...
