John Sullenberger Obituary
John William Sullenberger, Jr. was born to Alice Elaine Young-Sullenberger and Dr. John William Sullenberger, Sr. on August 11, 1957. He passed away in Tallahassee Florida on October 27, 2014. John was a computer programmer at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
He was well known for his love of trains and was an avid member of the Big Bend Model Railroad Association (BBMA) holding every office from secretary to president during his 27 year membership. He was also the show and sales coordinator for the annual Tallahassee Model Railroad Show. John was deeply devoted to friends and family, always there to offer a helping hand or to put a smile on your face. He will be deeply missed by many.
John is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne McArthur Sullenberger; daughter, Catherine Elaine Sullenberger; and son, Thomas Charles Sullenberger; three sisters, Lance (Bob) Canter; Kathy (Mark) Bensabat; and Laurie Ann Sullenberger (Mike) Falk; a stepbrother Dean (Debbie) Rakestraw; and stepmother Lois Sullenberger. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Mitchell Canter, Beth Sasson, George Bensabat, John Bensabat, Carson Falk, Kaelyn Falk, Madison Rakestraw, Sarah Rakestraw; and his mother-in-law, Sally McArthur.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Abbey Funeral Home, with a memorial service to commemorate John's life beginning at 3:00 PM.

Such a sweet, gentle and kind person. He was always fun to be around. The last time we were all at the river, we had such a good time. He will be missed by all that knew him. RIP John.

I got to know John when we were in high school together, I played for the freshman basketball team and he was on the varsity squad. John was truly a kind, friendly, and a gentle giant. God needed a power forward on his squad so he called John home.

I remember playing against "Big John" and the "Sermon boys" Terry Lee and Rod Sermon.
Although Big John was cool and mild mannered gentle giant , he could be tough when he got riled.

I enjoyed working with John on different computer programs that I was involved in. He was always there to help me and would have the changes to the computer programs made in a short time. I considered him a great friend. He loved his family dearly. He will be missed at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
