John J. Umstead Sr.
John Jay Umstead Sr., 61, of Lansford, entered into eternal rest on Oct. 23 in his residence. He was the husband of Linda L. Umstead. They celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary in July of this year.
He was employed as a laborer for Pecora Corporation for 10 years.
Born in Sellersville, he was a son of the late John and Ethel (Ragan) Umstead.
John was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War with the HHC 6th Battalion of the 171st Infantry Brigade.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, ,John J., Jr., and his fiancé Kerri Winter; daughters Shannon Jewell, Michelle Bean, and Heather M. Levengood; brother Dennis and his wife, Stephanie; sisters, Peggi Donahue and her husband, Chris, and Kathy Samarco; 5 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Service: To be held at a later date from the Svercheck-Blazosky Funeral Home, 340 E. Bertsch St., Lansford.
