Mr. John Henry Wittenmyer, age 94, of Jasper, Indiana entered this life on January 18, 1931 in Kent, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late John F. and Susie Mabel Pheasant Wittenmyer. He was a graduate of the American School of Correspondence, and went on to obtain his Associate's degree in business management from Vincennes University. He married Barbara Ann Shelley on October 14, 1966 at home in Madison, Indiana.He enlisted in the United States Navy and served for just under four years. He then worked for the Madison State Hospital as an attendant for several years. He later worked for the Jefferson County Proving Grounds as an electronics technician, and then for Conn Organ as a quality control supervisor. He retired from Kimball Electronics in 1993, after serving as the quality assurance manager for 23 years. He was a 50 year member of the Hanover Masonic Lodge No. 652 F. & A.M., as well as a member of the Eastern Star, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and the Murat Shrine. He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper. John died on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 3:29 a.m. at the St. Charles Place in Jasper, Indiana. John will be missed by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Barbara Ann Shelley Wittenmyer of Jasper, Indiana; his daughter, Melody L. Wilson and her husband, Fred of Columbus, Indiana; his step-daughter, Linda Sweeney and her husband, Sam of Jasper, Indiana; his grandchildren, Scott Kern (Tori), Jessica Mosier (Cody), and Holly Britton (John); 8-great grandchildren; 2-great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Wittenmyer, his mother, Susie Mabel Pheasant Wittenmyer, and his step-son, Donald Louis Robinson, died May 29, 2004. Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Adam Ruschau at the Lick Branch Cemetery, 10439 West Deputy Pike Road near Deputy, Indiana. Friends may visit, Monday, August 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Lick Branch Cemetery, 10439 West Deputy Pike Road near Deputy, Indiana. Military honors will be conducted by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion. A Masonic service will be held on August 25, 2025, at 10:45 a.m. at the Lick Branch Cemetery, 10439 West Deputy Pike Road near Deputy, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's. Cards are available at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centres of Madison and Hanover. Online condolences, remembrances and memorials can be left at www.morgan-nay.com
