John P. Zalesak
John P. "Jack" Zalesak, 70, of West Early Avenue, Coaldale, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 9, in his home.
A certified public accountant, he retired from Kovatch Enterprises, Nesquehoning, where he was a contract administrator.
Born on Wednesday, July 2, 1947, in Coaldale, he was a son of the late John and Ann (Behovich) Zalesak.
A graduate of Panther Valley High School, he served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Bloomsburg University with an emphasis in accounting.
An avid outdoorsman, Jack liked to hunt and fish. He enjoyed the companionship of his dogs Gage and Gretchen. In retirement, Jack trained hunting dogs for field trial competitions. He won many medals and ribbons.
Jack often mentioned how much he liked living in the Coal Regions, echoing "God's Country."
Surviving are three sons, Jerry of Elizabethtown, Jeffrey, and his fiancée, Aisha Merovich, of Dillsburg, and Jordan J. of Harrisburg; a brother Stephen of Coaldale; two sisters, Christine Dover of Coaldale and Diane Feaster in Virginia; and two grandchildren, Parker Avery and Peyton Taylor.
He was also predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Jane "Jannie."
Service: Remembrance service 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Interment, Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Annville.
