Johnny Wayne Kervin

Chesapeake - Johnny W. Kervin, born February 13, 1947 in Mobile, AL. passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2017. He was predeceased by his mother Robbie and cousins James and Kenneth.

He is survived by his wife Judith and her family, father, Raymond L. Kervin (Roberta Miller), his children Robert (Brina), Debbie (Ken), Lisa (Scott), his brother Billy (Carla), his sister Sandra and his half-sister Becky (Bart), seven nieces and nephews and six grandchildren.

Johnny served in the USMC during the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged after six years of service at the rank of Sgt. After his military service he worked for major shipyards for 44 years as supervisor at INGALLS Shipbuilding, Pascagoula, Mississippi, and the last 25 years for Norshipco and BAE Systems, currently as a 1st Class Ship fitter Specialist.

Johnny was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, South Norfolk, and Moose International. He was an avid boater and loved to fish. He loved to read, Alabama Football and all game shows.

A funeral service will be conducted 7:00p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Chesapeake Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments by the Reverend Tracy Gregory. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services from 6:00 until 7:00p.m. Burial with military honors will be at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10:00am.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the "BAE Family" for their understanding and support throughout Johnny's illness. Also a special thanks to Ms. Melody RN at CGH for her outstanding care and compassion for Johnny during his last hours.
