Johnny Wayne Stapp, 67, of Martinsville, IN, passed away on July 9, 2018. Johnny was born January 3, 1951, in Indianapolis, IN, to Clarence E. Stapp and Etheleen (Shipp) Stapp. After completing his education, he worked as a machinist until the time of his retirement. Johnny was known for having many joys in life, including fishing, hunting, cars, listening to the Swap Shop, and loved being outdoors. However, throughout his life he found the most joy in the time spent with his family and close friends. Johnny is survived by his sons, Christopher Stapp, David (Cheron) Stapp; daughter, Amber (Robert) Knapp; father, Clarence E. Stapp; sisters, Shirley Williams, Carolyn Stapp, Kathy (Donald) Twyford, and M. Joann Stapp; grandchildren, Jordan (Tyler) Eltzroth, Megan Stapp, Katelyn Stapp, Abriana "Abby" Stapp, Nathan Stapp, Ryan Stapp, Bryson Stapp, Lauren Knapp, Marcus Knapp, Johnathan Critser, and Urijah Stapp; as well as lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Etheleen (Shipp) Stapp; son, Johnny Stapp, Jr.; and nephew, Marty James Williams. Funeral Services for Johnny will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Hendryx Mortuaries Cumberland Chapel, 11636 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the time of service at the mortuary. Guests are invited to attend a meal at the family's residence following the services. Wow! It seems like just last week that all of us, including Johnny, were in the Calvary Tabernacle youth choir.
Johnny was a young man that you just had to love. I always remember him as a kind decent person.
I wish I had taken the time to be a closer friend to him.
