Jon De Bondt Allen-Romberg

Jon De Bondt Allen-Romberg passed away in Dallas, TX on September 17, 2023. He went peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones.

Jon was born on July 17, 1938 in Los Alamitos, CA to Henry & Cora Romberg Jr. He graduated from Paramount High School, Long Beach City College, and later received his Masters in Education from United States International University in San Diego. A lifelong educator, Jon taught in Vista Schools for most of his career; Casita & Santa Fe Elementary Schools and Washington Jr High/Middle School, until he retired. He served for over 30 years as a medic in the California Air National Guard. Jon & his second wife, Ada (Sunny), lived in Oceanside for many years and enjoyed their grandchildren, the symphony, theater, museums, the zoo, & more until their move to Dallas, TX in late 2021.

Jon is preceded in death by his wife Ada Allen-Romberg, his parents, his brother Harold, sister Mary Anne, first wife Marcia, & son Matthew. He is survived by daughters & sons-in-law, Lisa & Mark Miller of Cornelius, OR, Lori & Kirk McGregor of Dallas, TX; son, Timothy Romberg of Escondido, CA ; bonus sons & daughter-in-law, Anthony Forgione of Vista, CA, Michael & Anusheh Forgione of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Megan, Adrianna, Christopher, Stephanie, Olivia, Bransun, Sarah, Matthew, Katie, Mikol, Matthew, Alex, Abby; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Cora, Luke, Teagan, Blake, Levi, Carson; and numerous extended family members & friends.

A Celebration of Life for both Jon & Ada will be held at North Coast United Methodist Church in Oceanside, CA on Saturday, April 20th at 11:00 am. Reception immediately following.
