Jonathan Latimer Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Nov. 22 to Nov. 24, 2011.
May 28, 1958 - November 15, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Jon Latimer on Tuesday November 15. Beloved son of Hugh Latimer and Joyce Rees, stepson of Bryan Rees, and brother of Brian, Phillip and Moira. He was loved by his nieces and nephews Rhiannon, Kirsten, Betty, Andrew and Jamie. He is also missed by aunts, uncles and cousins throughout North America. He is fondly remembered by colleagues and students at Sexsmith Elementary School, Vancouver.

Jon loved his family deeply and was very supportive of them all. He was a dedicated teacher, loved music and sports, and had a fondness for all animals. Jon spent his life enhancing and enriching the lives of children in his family, at school, and throughout the world.

A celebration of Jon's life will be held on Thursday, November 24 at 7 pm at West Point Gray United Church, 4595 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver.

I knew Jon when we were in grade 6 and all the years of school that followed. He always had his own style and few people are as kind and gentle as he was with dogs, cats, small children and other creatures who need comforting.

I lost touch with him in later years, but never forgot him. Never will. I am sure it is a great shock and loss for his students, family and friends. It is for me. My sincere condolences.

This is a tremendous shock. Even though it has been many years since I saw Jon I thought of him often.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He will be missed.

We were all shocked to here about Mr Latimer's passing. My son, Sean, enjoyed being in his 5th grade class. Sean also enjoyed playing on the Sexsmith volleyball team with Mr Latimer coaching until his recent passing. Mr Latimer will be sadly missed. Our condolences to the entire family.

I am deeply saddened by Jon's death. He was a fine man and I am sure his students loved him as we all did. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.
Much love to you all,
Bonnie Rees
