Jonathan Moreira Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2022.

Jonathan Michael Moreira was a special education school teacher and a driver's training instructor. Since moving to the Boise area, John has taught at two schools... Lowell Scott and Lake Hazel Middle School. John was very devoted to his students and loved his job.

John always said you didn't need to look beyond or do anything elaborate because the real magic was in the everyday.

John was a family man and a good provider for his family. He and his wife, Brandi, shared 21 beautiful years. Together they have three amazing sons, Mingus (13), Darwin (11), and Harrison (2).

John loved to do things with his sons. He was a great father. His boys were the light of his life. He would take them camping, rain, snow or shine... it was pretty much roughing it. For John, it was pack quick and go, which once meant, I'm sorry you don't have a coat (we'll get mommy to pack next time). There was once also a major rainstorm that destroyed their tent and sent the campers retreating down the mountain to the warmth of their home in the middle of the night. If you asked John about any of his camping trips with his sons, he would answer, "best camping trip EVER!"

A couple times a week, John would take over the kitchen (usually right after his wife, Brandi had cleaned it) to make bagels and bread for his family. He was a fantastic baker, and not the neatest in the kitchen. He also loved to grill, so many times before the bread was done baking, he would have drug his kitchen mess right out the backdoor to the grill... the entire time talking excitingly about how great dinner was going to be tonight.

As a friend, John was always quick to offer help and never complained. He found pleasure in helping those that he loved. He would just say, "let's do it." Then he would ask you to get out of the way, because it would be easier to lift it by himself. John was very strong.

John lived everyday of his life to the fullest. Right after his first brain surgery he was out mowing his lawn, he rode his bike often, he spent quality time with his children, and he continued to grill, bake and destroy his wife's kitchen with love.

Jonathan looked at everyday as the good stuff, because for him, the good stuff was found in the simple, not the elaborate.

Jonathon was my first favorite cousin, an early creative collaborator, my first real best friend, my brother. He was kind and fun and so very funny. His low key commentary was hilarious and unmatched. John was the person you wanted to be sitting next to at any family dinner or event. He loved good music and creative endeavors. He was the best. He was so loved. He will be missed
