**MS. Joneta "Legs" or "Jo" Bridgmon (Ellison), 66**

MS. Joneta "Legs" or "Jo" Bridgmon, age 66, passed away on September 13, 2025, in Palos Heights, Illinois. Born on July 21, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, she brought joy and vibrancy to the lives of those around her for over six decades.

Joneta graduated from Austin High School in 1976 and went on to build a diverse and dedicated career. She held positions at McGraw Hill Publishing Company, Illinois Bell (later Ameritech), and the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Her final role was as a Clerk at the Circuit Court of Cook County, where she took great pride in her work and her ability to help others.

A woman of many passions and talents, Joneta was an avid reader who found joy in the written word. She had a flair for baking and interior decorating-skills she practiced with excellence and creativity. She loved solving puzzles and playing cards, often sharing laughter-filled moments with friends and family over games. Her enthusiasm for life extended to her love of casinos and visits to dog and pony tracks.

Joneta had a deep appreciation for beauty in all forms-whether it was tending to her beloved fish aquarium and plants or expressing herself through fashion. Known for her short dresses, high heels, radiant smile, memorable laugh, and fierce runway-like walk, she left an unforgettable impression wherever she went. Her voice-both speaking and singing-was as beautiful as it was distinctive.

Her spiritual journey began early when she was baptized at Mars Hill Baptist Church in Chicago IL. In later years, she found inspiration watching Dr. Charles Stanley and was lovingly adopted by First Baptist Church INC., of Keysville in Hephzibah, Georgia.

Joneta's legacy lives on through her children: Cranesha R.Williams (Kuna) and Tahonee' F. Bridgmon; her grandchildren: Latiyah McIntyre, Kyi Booker, Kuna Williams Jr., Mikalah Williams, and Taye Johnson; as well as four great-grandchildren: Ladante McNeary Jr., TA'Asia McIntyre, Amir Gaskin, and Amina Gaskin.

She is also remembered by her siblings: Glamour Ellison, Almer Griffin, Barbara Ellison, Samantha Dail, James Randolph, Michael Randolph, Jessie Randolph(Pearlie), Lewesley Dail(Cassandra); along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Among them was a very special niece whom she cherished like a daughter: Chaune' (Nicola) Fitzgerald (Eric).

Joneta now joins in rest her mother Edna M. Dail (Ellison), father Jessie Randolph; brothers Roosevelt Ellison, Sedrick Ellison, Wendell Ellison, and Calvin Ellison.

Joneta Bridgmon will be remembered for her wit, warmth, style, strength of spirit-and above all-for the love she gave so freely to those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

Sending up prayers to the entire family during this difficult time and days ahead. I had the privilege of meeting Joneta in 2004 while working at the Clerk of the Circuit Court. I met Joneta in 2011 when I was transferred to Traffic Court where she worked. I only knew a couple people upon my arrival but we quickly connected and became friends and often found ourselves sharing deep conversations outside of work related issues. I retired in 2022 and wished she had as well especially since she had challenging health issues and a very challenging position that she was passionate about (often going over and beyond required) aiding anyone with questions and who needed assistance. Her smile was contagious and that walk was confident.

Joneta will never ever be forgotten!

Nita and I met in 1985, and I initially swore that we would never be friends. However, we became family, and I cherished her smile and laughter every time we talked. She was my voice of stability in this chaotic world, always guiding me to walk the straight and narrow. I will deeply miss our conversations, "Sissy," and I am grateful for the journey of growth and love we shared.

Rest well in the Lord´s arms my dear neighbor and friend. When we met I knew at that moment we´d be great neighbors. I still can´t believe you are gone. Physically, yes ,but not spiritually.

My Aunt had a way with words. Some may call it mean, some might call it sassy, I choose to call it guidance. She meant what she said and she said whatever she meant. Overtime, her words softened, but never the love she had for me. I will always remember her courage and bravery to try new things, travel to new places and her most important act of courage to choose her self love journey towards her everlasting love, JESUS
