Jordan Jaeger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 27, 2012.
Jordan died peacefully at home in his sleep surrounded by his loving family. He had suffered a disabilitating head injury on October 5, 2011. He came home to be cared for by his parents on January 9, 2012. Although he was a warrior and fought through the pain, his body wore out and he went to dance with the angels on the morning of December 23, 2012. Jordan was 27 years old.

He attended elementary school at Summitview and Cottonwood in the West Valley School District. While in elementary school he played soccer for Greg Haubrich on the Runnin' Rebels team. During this time he formed life-long friendships with many of Yakima's finest young men. Jordan attended West Valley Middle School and Junior High where he continued to play sports and was involved with many school activities. He graduated from West Valley High School in 2004. He was on the Homecoming court and a Mister West Valley Contestant. He was a football co-captain/quarterback for coach Altshuler that made it into the quarter finals(darn Prosser). He played basketball for coach Berndt and was a co-captain/point guard, the team placed third in State his senior year. He played baseball for Coach Wyckoff as the centerfielder/lead-off hitter, had a .500 batting average, was the most valuable player for West Valley and nominated for spring athlete of the year in our local newspaper. . During the summer of 2004 he played for the Pepsi Pak, coached by Mike Archer. Jordan participated with the Pak at the annual Reno Tournament where he was named to the all-star team. He attended Big Bend Community College and played baseball there his freshman year. He moved to Spokane Falls Community College and his sophomore year and continued to play baseball until a hamstring injury ended his baseball career. During his time living in Spokane his maternal grandparents (John and Janet Hooper) were involved in a serious car accident in the Spokane Valley. Jordan helped the family nurse them back to health. He then attended Central Washington University for two years. He was presently attending Heritage University working on his teaching degree.

Jordan coached basketball and baseball in the past for the West Valley School District. He had just begun his third season coaching high school basketball for Riverside Christian School when he suffered his neurological injury. Jordan liked water skiing, wake boarding, camping with his friends, snorkling with his family and dancing with all his friends.

Jordan is survived by his parents, Dave(West Valley Middle School Principal) and Pat(retired Speech and Language Therapist for the Selah School District) Jaeger who were his primary caretakers during his recovery. His older brother Lucas(Teacher at West Valley High School) and Ashley(Teacher at Adams Elementary) Jaeger. Maternal grandparents Bud and Janet Hooper of Liberty Lake, Washington, Uncles John (Marge) Jaeger, Gary Weible and Mike Hooper, great aunt and uncle Jane and Ron Yandt, aunts, Patsy Dretke and Susan Hayward. Cousins Matt (Cheri) Hooper, Meagan (Jeff) Scott, Rachel (Tim) Ross, Mandy (Chris) Hansen, Angie(Pat)Travis, Laurie Dretke, Layne Dretke, Jeff (Renee) Jaeger, Rich (Karla) Jaeger, Jamie (Jason) Grende, Pam (Bill) Uran, Chris (Shaunti) Weible, and many great nieces and nephews. Our prayers and love are with you, David, Pat and Lucas. One of my favorite memories of the Jaeger side of the family is riding the Dune Buggies in Oregon with Jordan and Lucas grinning from ear to ear! God's grace be with you all.
