Jose Calvo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 26, 2019.
José Guadalupe Calvo met the love of his life, Gloria Elena Prado in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas Mexico in 1966 and got married on August 11, 1968. Soon after they had their 1st child, Nora Elia Calvo on July 11, 1969 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas Mexico. Two years later they had their second child, Arturo Ernesto Calvo on January 1st, 1971 in Coatzacoalcos, Vera Cruz Mexico. Then on September 15, 1972, they had their third child, Guadalupe Calvo, Jr. Lastly, their fourth child, Carlos Calvo was stillborn in 1974.
Jose immigrated to the United States in 1974 to work and send money home to his family. After only a month he went back for his family that he couldn't live without.
Jose's only passions were to be a provider for his loving wife and family, and to play soccer. Jose worked in construction for many years and spent about 9 of them at Fordyce Gravel Company. In 1996 he cofounded Calvo's Janitorial, Inc. with his wife Gloria, his son, Arturo and his daughter in law, Roxann Calvo. This became one of his proudest achievements. He cherished every employee, contractor and customer as family.
In his later years he enjoyed spending time with Gloria, writing poems, and watching his favorite sport, soccer. Jose was blessed with many family members, from his birth mother, Esther Cantu and birth father, Ricardo Salinas to his adopted parents, Francisco and Bernarda Calvo whom he cherished.
Jose is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gloria E. Calvo; daughters, Nora Claussell (Larry) of Victoria; sons, Arturo Calvo, Sr. (Roxann) of Victoria, Lupe Calvo, Jr. (Janie) of Victoria; sisters, Rafaela Cabrera Calvo (Joaquin) of Bloomington, Carlota San Miquel of Laredo, Nayra Guadalupe Salinas, Oralia Deyanira Salinas, Marissa Salinas de Medina; brothers, Sebastian Calvo (Jovita) of Deer Park, Alberto San Miguel (Sanjuanita) of Laredo, Ricardo San Miguel (Ester) of San Antonio; Florencio San Miguel (Dora) of Laredo, Ricardo Salinas, Fernando Salinas, Genaro Diego Salinas; grandchildren, Isaac Cruz (Brittney), Ariana Elena Munoz (Fernando), Brandi Yvette Salazar (Mykael), Arturo Ernesto Calvo, Jr., Diego Jay Calvo, Sergio Carlos Calvo, Steven Alvarado, Rene Alvarado, Kaylie Alvarado and great-grandchildren, Aniah Kambry Munoz, Lourdes Marie Alvarado, Cameron Mykael Salazar, Hayden Cruz and Giancarlo Anthony Salazar.
He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Carlos Calvo and brother, Jesus San Miguel.
The family would like to offer a thank you to the special doctors, nurses, Citizens Home Health, Hospice of South Texas and thanks to his many caregivers including Joanie, Ashley, Debra, Sandra, Victoria, Mary, Shandy and Cassie.
