Jose Antonio "Papo" Carrion

It is with a heavy heart and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Jose Antonio "Papo" Carrion. At the age of 60, Papo departed from this world on September 14, 2024, in Newington, CT. Born in Hartford on June 3, 1964, he lived a life marked by unwavering commitment to his family, his faith, and the community that he held dear.

Papo was a bastion of strength and kindness, a man whose presence was a source of comfort and whose demeanor was ever gracious. Throughout his life, he upheld the virtues of humility and respect, and his legacy is one of quiet dignity and enduring love.

A devout worshiper and an active participant in his church, Papo's faith was a guiding light, both for himself and for those around him. He approached every day with a sense of gratitude and service, living out the teachings of his faith with sincere devotion. His passion for sports and fitness was another facet of his life where his dedication and team spirit shone brightly.

He is survived by a family who adored him: his daughter, Iliana Carrion; his siblings, Bobby Carrion, Migdalia DeLeon, and Iris Jermison; his beloved grandchildren, Rosalie Matos, Ariel Santos Jr., Giselle Santos, and Amaya Carrion; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Kayden Forestier and Kehlani Forestier. Papo was predeceased by his parents, Jose Carrion and Maria Estremeras Carrion; his sister, Maritza Carrion; and his son, Antonio J. Carrion.

The Carrion family invites all who knew and loved Papo to join them in commemorating his life. Visitation will be held at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, located at 16 Greenwood Street, Hartford, CT, 06106, on October 1st, 2024, from 2pm to 3pm. A traditional Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3pm. Together, in this time of reflection and remembrance, we will honor the memory of a man who lived by example and who leaves behind a legacy of compassion and integrity.
