DR. JOSEF WENDEL

age 85, was born May 15, 1937 and passed away on August 18, 2022. Joe was blessed with three children, Kathy, John and Joe, three grandchildren, Jackie, Nick and Tom and a large wonderful family. He came from Austria in 1952 and relocated to the Cleveland area with his parents, Hilda and Jakob and his brother Fred and his extended family. Joe was an educator, school administrator, musician / band leader, German radio program host, professional soccer sportscaster, soccer coach, author ..... He loved all the various careers he had and the many hats he wore. Joe loved people and he loved life. Joe is the founding father and first coach of Cuyahoga Falls High School soccer. He coached from 1965-1970. Joe graduated with his PhD in Educational Administration and School Law from Kent State University. In 1955, Joe founded the Joe Wendel Orchestra. He loved music and performing with his band. He was an expert accordion musician. In 1961, he started his 60 year run as the host of German radio programs. Entertaining on the radio and on the stage was always a labor of love for Joe. Joe was an active member of the German-American community. An Oktoberfest Celebration of Josef's life will be at Reinecker's Party Center, 8575 S. Freeway Dr, Macedonia, Ohio 44056, on October 22, 2022. Starts at 2 pm.
