To the Amdrade Family, I'm sorry to hear you of fathers passing. Mr. Andrade was a good man. He was my coach when I was a kid, and I learned a lot from him. To this day I apply those lessons in my everyday life. I'm so glad to have had him in my life. He was a great mentor to many young people

To the Andrade family: it has long been remembered the great ingenuity Joe had in forming the softball league's"fast-pitch" teams of Rhode Island back in the 1950's. The teams and tournaments involved under his leadership were ultra amazing. Joe certainly will long be remembered by all those whose lives he touched back then and he should be classified as one of the top sports mentors ever to come out of Rhode Island. Thank you Joe for all that you have done for so many people throughout the Rhode Island area. You will be sadly missed and may your family members find peace and comfort in the days ahead with the many special memories they have of you. God Bless you!

Back in the winter of 1957 as a 2nd grader , I was taking a " shortcut " to enter Thurbers Ave School having decided that jumping over an icy wooden fence somehow would get me to class a bit quicker. BIG MISTAKE as I fell face first on to the sidewalk. I split my head on the pavement and I looked a mess. I was crying, panicking, and bleeding profusely, when I felt a pair of hands lift me from the ground, walk me to a car, and amid my protestations, promptly drove me to RI Hospitals accident room for a dozen or so stitches. Those hands belonged to Joe Andrade, who to me at the time ,was a total stranger. He lost time from work while he awaited the arrival of my mother at the hospital. It was an act of kindness I have never forgotton, that's just who this guy was.

To the Andrade family,
Let it be known to all of you that Joe was a man that instilled so many values to the youth of Fox Point, East Side and many other areas. Reading of him reminds me of numerous and wonderful memories of The Fox Point Boy's Club. Joe's leadership skills in guiding youth were invaluable, he treated everyone with respect and encouragement! His legend definitely will be inclusive of 'enhancing skills in many a youth' that are utilized by many of us today, some 50+ years later! Joe had a harmonica band and to this day I have a harmonica in my desk drawer! Let it be known that he was a friends friend!

To the Andrade Family: Our deepest sympathies are with all of you. Our dad, Dick Wobby, was a member of the boys club at the same time as Mr. Andrade. Fox Point has lost so many of its founding memebers but those of us lucky enough to have known these fine men like Mr. Andrade and our dad have benefited from their upbringing. The Point will never be the same but it will never be forgotten due to the leaders like Mr. Andrade. Warmly, Tom and Denise Wobby

To the Andrade Family: It is with great saddness that I learned of Joe's death. Everything I ever lerned about basketball and sportsmanship, I learned at the Fox Point Boys Club under the tutelage of Joe. All my success at Coffeyville Jr. College and Kansas University is directly the result of learning to play the game the right way and that came from Joe. I think I speak for all the "Fox Pointers" when I say, thanks Joe! May god bless you.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to you in hearing of the loss of your Dad. Our father - Tommy O'Connor was a Boy's Club member around the same time as your father and we always heard him mention "Joe Andrade". At that time our dad lived on Transit Street. Always remember all the good times you had with your dad. May he rest in peace.

To the Andrade Family: It is with great saddness that I learned of Joe's death. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Everything I know about basketball, I learned at the Fox Point Boys Club and under the tutelage of Joe. All my suucess on the basketball court can be traced directly to him. I am not speaking just myself, but for all the Fox Point kids who did and still do identify themselves as "fox Pointers." Joe played a huge part in our development both as athletes and people. Thanks Joe!

When we were kids at the Boy's Club, we called him Mr. Andrade. He was great, always a smile. He was pretty good at finger pool also.
