Joseph Barton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 8, 2017.
It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Barton, age 34, Dartmouth, announces his passing on May 5, 2017.

Joseph was diagnosed with diabetes at a very young age and throughout his short life he struggled with its complications and challenges. For the past several months the Dartmouth General Hospital has been home for Joseph as he dealt with his illness. Throughout his ordeal Joseph has displayed strength, courage and perseverance and many will remember him for his engaging smile and big personality. Now he is at rest and free from all pain and suffering.

Born in Halifax on September 16,1982, he was a son of the late Larry and Marlene (Robinson) Barton. He is survived by his wife, Andell Carvery and their children, Kionna, Kyara and Kymar. He is also survived by his brother, Larry and his sons, Larry Jr. and Larenze and brother, Douglas (Jennifer). He was deeply loved and will be lovingly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Larry and Marlene Barton; maternal grandparents Robert (Bob) and Myrtle (Moonie) Robinson, and paternal grandparents Doug and Imogene Barton.

Joseph was a devoted father and he was happiest spending time with Annie and his children. He loved taking them on trips to the valley, especially Digby, so that they could experience where he had spent so much time in his youth. He treasured the time he spent bonding with his brothers just watching sports and laughing and joking together. He loved to watch his nephews playing sports and he loved to hang out with his homies listening to music and just doing what friends do.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 11 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Clayton Park. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12 at 1 pm in Cornwallis Street Baptist Church, 5457 Cornwallis St, Halifax, followed by a reception in the Church hall. There will also be a visitation in Digby at Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. on Saturday, May 13 from 12-1 pm followed by a celebration of life service there at 1pm. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery followed by a reception at the Acaciaville Church Hall.

Family would like to thank the staff of 4East and the Dialysis Unit at the Dartmouth General for their care and compassion. Donations in Joseph's memory may be made to the Diabetes Association.

Larry, Douglas, and Family Members:

I'm so deeply sorry to hear of Joseph's passing. I know how close you all were as brothers and I extend my heartfelt condolences to you both. Also, to Joseph's wife, children and all the rest of the family my deepest sympathies. Joseph left us much too young, but the love and memories he left behind will always remain. I'm praying that God will give you all the hope and strength you need to face the difficult days ahead. God Bless you all.
