Joseph V. Bosco, 78, of O'Hara Township and formerly of New Kensington, died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 14, 1931, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Pezone) Bosco, he was a 1947 graduate of North Catholic High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951 from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Bosco was a metallurgist with Allegheny Ludlum starting in 1956 and retired as their director of quality assurance in 1993. He was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington and was an avid reader. He especially enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and volunteering at the Carnegie Science Center and the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair, where he coordinated the judging panel. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Margarita (Azzarello) Bosco; two daughters, Joanne T. Bosco, of Lansdale, and Gina (Stan Siewert) Bosco, of Caldwell, Idaho; two brothers, The Most Rev. Anthony G. Bosco, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Greensburg, and Dr. James J. (Sharon) Bosco, of Kalamazoo, Mich. Mr. Bosco's niece, Valerie Ann (Kevin) Azzarello-Pysnik, of Murrysville, had a special place in his heart for providing loving nursing care and assistance over the past several years. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington, PA 15068. Private burial will be in Christ the Redeemer Cemetery, North Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church or Peoples Library, 880 Barnes St., New Kensington, would be appreciated. To leave a condolence visit www.rossgwalker.com.
