Joseph Carls Obituary
Joe attended St. Bonaventure University and graduated as a reserve officer in the US Army. He continued to serve as a civilian for 30 years.
Joe married Leslie S. Balchunas who was the mother of two daughters, Mary and Kristin. Joe and Leslie had four additional children; Edward, Kathleen, Michelle and Joseph Jr., and raised their family in Burke, Virginia before retiring to Williamsburg, Virginia.
Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Leslie, their six children, their eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Joe spent his life serving his country and his family.
He passed peacefully in his home with family on April 29, 2023.

Joe was an integral part of our family growing up. I can´t remember a Thanksgiving that we didn´t spend with him and Aunt Betty and Uncle Ed. I remember his sense of humor and his love of family and I was always proud of his service to our country. Please accept my deepest sympathies on his passing.

We have had some great times over the years, Dad. This only captures more recent moments but I´ll never forget our trips to the lake to feed the ducks-a fond memory. Your stories will be greatly missed as well as your many tidbits of professional advice that have helped to shape my career. I´m taking good care of mom so don´t you worry. Rest easy, Dad. Noah and I love you!
