Joseph Chilson Obituary

Joseph B. Chilson, 63, of RR2 Wysox (Standing Stone Township) Pa., passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa., to meet his canine companion, Molly, in Heaven.

Born Sept. 1, 1945 in Ardmore, Okla. he was the son of Joseph R. Chilson and Joyce Rozzell Chilson.

Joe was a graduate of Towanda High School, class of 1965. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, having served in Vietnam in the U.S. Marine Corps.

On June 30, 1968 he married the former Nancy J. Lattimer at Christ Episcopal Church in Towanda.

Upon his discharge from the Marine Corps, he was employed by Charmin in Mehoopany, Pa. In 1968 he was employed by Masonite Corp. until his retirement in 2000 when his health would no longer permit him to continue.

Joe was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, reloading, target practice and black powder guns. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are: His wife of 41 years, Nancy J. Chilson at home; his parents: Joseph R. and Joyce Chilson of Wysox, RR2; his children: Joel Chilson and his wife, Kelly of Wyalusing RR3, Dana Chilson of Wysox RR2, Michelle Perry and her husband, John Perry of Towanda RR6; nine beloved grandchildren: Jordan, AshLeigh, Dalton, Joey, Hannah, and Jackson Chilson, Jonathan Joseph Burton, Alison and JayDee Perry; two brothers: Jerry Wayne Chilson and his wife, Ann of Rome, Pa., Larry Chilson of Wysox RR2; six sisters: Anetta Soper and her husband, Robert of Wysox RR2, Rose Rohe and her husband, Philip of Texas; Cathy Shoemaker and Chuck of Wysox RR2; LaVeda Gunther of Towanda, Pa., Valerie Donat and her husband, Joseph of Williamsport, Pa., and Karen Chilson of South Carolina; several nieces; nephews and cousins; a special aunt, Skeet; his mother-in-law: Margaret Lattimer of Wysox RR2; a sister-in-law: Margaret Crawford of Wysox RR2; a special brother-in-law, Walt Crawford, who helped him solve all the world's crises over a cup of coffee.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Chilson and an infant grandson Jesse Chilson, and best friend Jerry Lattimer.

As per Joe's request there are no services or calling hours.

A remembrance picnic and time of fellowship will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at Harry Camp's Pond in Herrickville, Pa.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be directed to the Guthrie Dialysis Unit, William Street, Towanda PA 18848 in Joseph B. Chilson's memory.
