Joseph Coelho Obituary
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late John and Serafina (Berthao) Coelho. He was educated in Taunton schools, graduating from Taunton High School in 1936.
A firefighter with the Taunton Fire Department for many years, he retired as lieutenant in 1982. He also operated Coelho Painting and Decorating for many years.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, BPO Elks Lodge 150, and the Holy Name Society. He was an avid Patriots fan.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Joseph F. Coelho and his wife, Kathy, of South Yarmouth, and Paul J. Coelho of Plainville; three daughters, Mary Anne Long and her husband, Earle, of Hauula, Hawaii, Terry E. Rich and her husband, Jim, of Taunton, and Sister Paula Coelho, SUSC, of Boston; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Wednesday, July 30, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Taunton, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Mother Helena Fund of The Holy Union Sisters, P.O. Box 410, Milton, MA 02186.
